September 15 marks the anniversary of independence for five separate Latin American countries, with two other countries also declaring their independence in September. That is why September 15 through October 15 is now acknowledged as Hispanic Heritage month in the United States. Chicago has a diverse selection of Latin American restaurants scattered throughout the city. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage month at one of these four restaurants.
Tango Sur in Ravenswood Serves up Phenomenal Argentine Food at a Fair Price
The menu at this cozy candlelit gem features a wide selection of delicious dishes from Argentina. The intimate (and often crowded) setting makes it a perfect selection for date night. Patrons don’t have to pay a lot to get large portions, and the restaurant is BYOB with no corking fee. Tango Sur is probably Chicago’s worst-kept secret for reasonably-priced yet classy dining. Be sure to call ahead, especially on weekends, or expect to wait close to an hour for a table. Avoid the slightly compacted atmosphere by saving Tango Sur for a weeknight.
